A Good Fit

EDUCATION
Bachelor of Arts in International Studies
University of Nebraska, USA- 2006
As a child, I dreamt of working for an international organization that will allow me to solve urgent global needs, poverty alleviation, health issues, conflicts, and significant occurrences. My fascination with the world’s politics and international perspectives exceeded anything else. I believed that a degree in International relations could open up the world to me, which was the dream that motivated my first degree in International Studies with a double concentration in International Business Management and Global Strategy studies. Following my qualifications, I received significant exposure in world politics, governing policies, and the social, historical impact of global development. This degree allowed me to understand NGOs, the private sector, advanced human culture through cultural exchange, diplomacy, and policy development. The degree also reinforced my interest in economics, geography, history, and languages. I considered that degree to be appropriate to help me face urgent world issues until I started working for a nonprofit organization.
When I started working for a nonprofit organization that participates in community integration of people with developmental disabilities, I discovered that healthcare also had an urgent need to develop innovative ways to acquire, store, retrieve, and secure healthcare information. This was the reasoning behind my enrollment in a Master of Science in Health Informatics Administration (MSHIA). My choice coincided with the acceleration with electronic health records (EHRs) adoption introduced by CMS meaningful use incentive program. The program’s response to how and why questions helped organizations implement new systems, upgrade existing databases and contributed to different healthcare systems’ interoperability. The degree made it possible for me to evaluate an organization’s IT systems, design, and apply EMR/EHR software application. Furthermore, the degree equipped me with skills to convert and analyze medical and health data, ensure the quality of care, train physicians and other medical professionals in IT systems and application and EMR/EHR and computerized physician order entry (CPOE).
Master of Science in Health Informatics
University of Maryland, USA- 2011
Master of Information Technology Strategic Leadership
Walden University, USA- Dec 2018
As I continued to work in the nonprofit world, I realized that my degree in Health Informatics (MSHIA) did not give me the full scope of necessary tools to address some other pressing issues that related to patients’ information in-depth security. I stepped further in the studies that allowed me to gain those skills. The MSIT Strategic leadership gave me a sophisticated understanding of the technical expertise in integrating systems and leading global change initiatives, developing proactive and reactive Security Plans, leading IT in a Dynamic Environment, Operating System & Network Architecture, Enterprise System Architecture, Systems Analysis, and design, data Modeling & Database Design.
My post-graduate work was just a continuity of my innate desire to develop solutions to daily life challenges when it comes to IT. With the onset of globalization, cybersecurity has become a ubiquitous concern. My IT focus targeted security and privacy issues in information technology, information assurance, data modeling, security plans, systems analysis, and compliance in Non Profit organizations. The purpose of the qualitative multiple case study of this degree explored the strategies that nonprofit organizations employ in protecting against cyberattacks. The specific population encompassed IT managers and directors of information technology in charge of security management in nonprofit organizations.
Doctor of Information Technology ( DIT)
